Baker isn't a brilliant footballer, he isn't even particular good on the ball, but he's one of our best defenders imo. He may be accident and injury prone, but that's because he puts his heart and head on the line for every minute he's on the pitch.

I hope we don't think of selling him, because at a time when some of our players look almost afraid to go out on the pitch, Nathan Baker is the type of player we need. Even more important is the fact that we're going to need him for playing in the Championship .... seriously!

I hate to say it, but the more Championship experience our fringe players pick up, the easier our transition will be next season if we go down.

Callum Robertson off to Preston, his loan to Bristol having been terminated early: http://www.pnefc.net/news/article/callum-robinson-re-joins-for-season-2885570.aspx

Anybody else thinking it might be an idea to loan of a few of our more promising youngsters to the championship in preparation for next season? Or do we want to put them in the first team for similar preparatory reasons?

I think Gardner has to get out and play some football, he could be useful next season.

I thought this might happen. It will be good for Gary to get games under his belt, with the Championship League for Villa just a few months away. I'm disappointed though that he wasn't involved with our first team when you see Westwood and Sanchez walking into the team whenever they're fit enough.

Not really a Gardner fan though injuries have always curtailed his ability to make an impact. Do think he might be useful to us next season as from what I hear he's always impressed in his loan spells in the Championship.

I had the pleasure of watching him play regularly for the reserves (when he was fit Very Happy ) and he was a superbly well rounded attacking midfielder with a cracking shot in both feet. Injuries have been the blight of his footballing life.

Wish the lad well there, hope he can prove himself and force his way into next season's plans. I don't think many of our players will be able to cope with the Championship so if Gardner's up to it it's one less transfer/sign on fee to pay.

I think part of the problem is I only saw him under McLeish and after all the hype I saw a player who didn't justify it - partly because he was played more defensively than suited him.
