Loanwatch 2015/16

Post by Sandie on Tue Sep 08, 2015 2:26 pm

Thought it would be useful to have a thread to track the fortunes of players out on loan from Villa this season. How are they playing? Are their performances indicative of someone who can make it at Villa?

Players currently out on loan:

Nathan Baker (Bristol City)
Joe Cole (Coventry City)
Janoi Donacien (Newport County)
Gary Gardner (Nottingham Forest)
Callum Robinson (Preston North End)
Benjamin Siegrist (Solihull Moors)
Jed Steer (Huddersfield Town)
Kevin Toner (Kidderminster Harriers)

I think the loan window (for Football League clubs) opens today, is there anybody else who people want to see get a spell somewhere? I'd like Gary Gardner to have another spell out, build his fitness a bit.

It's not going to happen, but I'd like Hutton to go out on loan so that our RB actually creates some goals, instead of having someone hit hundreds of crosses with no assists.

I'm not knocking Huttons work rate or willingness, it's his total lack of accuracy and technique that p*sses me off!

Senderos isn't in the squad so he must be ripe for a spell on loan. Are there any promising youngsters who could use some experience?

It will be good for him to get some games. I also noticed that Gary Rowett tried to sign Baker on loan for Blues, but he says that Bristol City bid twice as much for the loan period. It just shows that teams like Chelsea with 33 players currently out on loan, can make good regular income out of stock piling players (Chelsea Player Rental UK Ltd). Something for UEFA to look at maybe?

Kevin Toner's a decent strong defender and well thought of by Academy watchers.

After a spell at Wycombe Donacien has now gone to Newport for a month: http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10265~5024730,00.html

Remember a couple of years ago that Donacien was seen as a really hot prospect. Of course, we now have so many centre halves he's not really going to get many opportunities.

Donacien has a lot going for him, he's got the physique and he's really quick for a centre back. I'm surprised he hasn't made more of an impression.

I hope he's as useful there as he was for us.

I think he possibly needs to stay there too. Good luck to him though, a decent chap. Just a quick note on Ricardo Calder, is he out on loan? He looked great in pre-season and wouldn't mind seeing him given a shot.

Oh it also makes you realise just how much of a PR stunt it was when Sherwood gave a debut to Hepburn-murphy, Never been seen since. Just wanted to get a bit of good faith and sell this notion he is all about homegrown youth (another area Tim has yet to excel in)

Calder is at Dundee FC. He seems to be getting good reviews up there.
