It was actually quite good to watch. We're more fluid without Rooney, and possession is better.

He'll no doubt come back in though when fit. Wouldn't it be good if they can take this from all the way through to next year and actually perform at a tournament?

Ahead of the last World Cup and the last European Championships England went through qualifying like a train only to flounder at the actual tournament. You have to hope that the new generation of England players are better in that regard than the Lampards, Gerrards and Terrys were.

Wijnaldum proved the point that if you're prepared to pay 14.5 million for a player who scores goals, then he actually scores goals. He wasn't a "prospect" buy, he was a banker!

Sunderland 2-0 up against Newcastle.

Whoever the new man is, he'll have to get us off the bottom as things stand.

And Bournemouth 1-0 up against Spurs. If that sticks it's us further adrift.

Two seasons ago, Gerrard slips up, costing Liverpool the title against Palace.

Last season, Gerrard plays his last Liverpool game against Palace. They lose.

This season, Gerrard goes to watch his first Liverpool game since leaving. It's against Palace. They lost.

When will Palace look into employing him as some kind of lucky charm? Very Happy

Norwich and Newcastle grabbed valuable points. Bournemouth were far better than Newcastle but without Wilson they're struggling to score, and Sunderland are woeful thankfully.

HA! I remember saying the same earlier on in the season when I was wanting to see Sherwood's team gel. I think in retrospect I should have been thankful for respite from that! But, yeah, can't wait to see us play Everton and Watford. But it's nearly two weeks away.

England have friendlies against Spain and France, be interesting to see how they get on against decent sides. Not that interesting though. Sodding international friendlies...

I'm genuinely hoping that he misses out on the world cup squad with Hodgson saying something like 'We have to pick as many players getting regular first team games as possible'. Twisted Evil
