Blues v Villa Sunday 12pm.

Post by villabromsgrove on Mon Oct 23, 2017 6:12 pm

I've avoided using derogatory epithets in the thread title, and I'm trying to approach this as if it's only another game. But it's not is it?

The fact that I've started this thread on a Monday six days before the match shows that it's a bit different.

The rivalry borders on hatred, which I won't join in with because I have good friends who are Blues fans.

We are definitely the better team going into this game, and I expect that if it goes to form we'll get three points. But it's not that simple is it?

Does Bruce have a pair of cojones that will allow him to set up positively? The only real chance Blues have is if we sit back and gift them 70% possession.

The players are good enough to win this .... will they be allowed to by our cautious manager?

What do you think guys?

Going to be a nervous Sunday lunchtime, I feel. The way we set out and the type of game this is will see to that. We certainly won't thrash them, as badly as they are doing, and we are masters at still making things difficult for ourselves.

It's on TV, it's an early kick off and even if things go belly up for us We've still got the Mexico Grand Prix to look forward to. (Will Hamilton be crowned world champion?)

I'm going to get a decent couple of bottles of wine and start early .... C'mon Sunday, and c'mon the Villa!

let's hope we don't get dragged into the local derby antics. If I was the manager I would definitely have a quiet word with Kodja, as he can be easily wound up and has reacted petulantly on a few occasions in the past. It will be a close game as Blue recent record at home has been strong so we will need to be at our best to walk away with 3 points on Sunday.

Would love to see a professional convincing win but I don't think this side and particularly this manager have that in them against a Blues side who will be well up for this. A nervous afternoon beckons but I expect good to prevail.

I've just surfaced after a late night babysitting for my precious grandchildren. C'mon the Villa!

Midfield has been dire. I'd give Whelan the hook before we come out for the second half.

It's just like the last couple of months revival hasn't happened. We've set up deep and isolated Kodjia who we try and hit with the occasional hoofed ball.

We're lucky to be going in at 0-0. Get a grip Bruce!

We've been so negative that we've allowed a struggling B'ham team to gain confidence with the most shots they've had all season .... and that's only forty five minutes gone!

Utterly shocking start to the second half.

Blues fans showing their class by throwing bottles at Johnstone.

Well, we got what we deserved .... nothing.

The amount of respect that Bruce gave B'ham was ridiculous. One of the lowest scoring teams in the division hovering over the relegation spot, and we treated them like Real Madrid.

I've had enough of this gutless manager!
