This is the best Villa related news since Westwood left.

That said, I do wish the lad all the best in the future with his career and hope he gets a good reception when he comes back. He was a trier, he just wasn't very good and it wasn't like he kept picking himself.

Reckon he's nailed on to score on Tuesday now though!

The appeal against Lansbury's red card has been successful.

He was a lucky fella because that was cynical and petulant.

Sam Johnstone has made the most saves of any Championship goalkeeper so far this season, which also puts him ahead of any keeper in the top five European leagues.

That's an enlightening stat when we read how well we are supposed to be playing at the moment.

Jordan Amavi has made his transfer to Marseilles permanent. A good player we never got to see the best of, IMO.

Why do we find it so hard to use good players properly?

Great news! He needs to be one of the first names on the team sheet. C'mon Steve do yourself a favour and pick this totally committed live wire. If he plays regularly his high tempo pressing style might encourage other midfielders to do the same.

Doyle-Hayes should be getting run outs as a twenty minute sub by now. Perhaps O'Hare could be given the first 70 minutes so that he can run the opposition ragged, with Jake D-H coming on to get at them for the last twenty.

Lyden has the same "in your face" attitude whenever he plays. It's why our reserves display a much feistier attitude than Bruce's first eleven!

Reading v Villa U23's has just kicked off. It's on a Reading FC stream and even though there's no commentary it's a good picture.

O'Hare scores a hat trick against Newcastle tonight, when he should be keeping his powder dry to run Preston ragged in 48 hours time. He's a dynamo of a player and our midfield desperately needs his aggression and energy.

I agree VB however evidenatlky he was subbed at 60 odd minutes, maybe he might come off the bench tonight.

As much as I would like players such as O'Hare, Doyle Hayes, and Lyden to feature, it's a bit pointless to bring them from a fairly free flowing passing and pressing environment into one that ignores the midfield in favour of a ball over the top. Bruce .... hoofing .... away matches, are synonymous.

McKirdy is another shout. What news on Kodj's injury? That might open doors for young attackers.

McKirdy is pretty quick and tricky. He's vey comfortable with the ball, but I think Bruce will dismiss him as too lightweight and inexperienced for the task in hand as he sees it.
