Barnsley v Villa

Post by villabromsgrove on Sat Sep 16, 2017 11:30 am

We're going to win today!

It's Sod's Law isn't it. We will probably witness another abject Villa performance on Sky today, and somehow scrape a win out of it.

Surely playing poorly and losing would finally put an end to Bruce's painful management of Villa, so that's why I say we'll scrape a win .... Sod's blooming Law!

Davis up front and Kodjia more to the left or deeper I suspect.

If you're right about "two up front" Sandie, and if Bruce allows the midfield to get up in support of the strikers we will win this game.

We have 5 players who are all capable of scoring, it looks a more positive approach, I really hope we see a good performance and a win as it might give Bruce a bit more confidence to go out and be positive more often.

Barnsley gifted us that goal, now we're trying to defend the 1-0 and hope to snatch another on the break.

Penalty 2-0. Let's hope Bruce takes the shackles off now because we're looking very poor even with a two goal lead.

Would like to see Hourihane paired with O'Hare in the centre of midfield. It's very clear that Hourihane likes to sit deep and be the holding midfielder and is a much better than Whelan, if O'Hare was with Hourihane it would push Villa further up the field and not so deep and give us a bit more energy. 2-0 up though, very happy with scoreline!!!

Davis first goal well-done lad well deserved, love the way he shows for the ball and holds it up, bringing others into play!!

Davis needed that for his confidence.

Bruce will no doubt think it changes everything, but what it's done is shine a blinding light on his unwillingness to play an attacking team unless he's forced into it. Yesterday forced his hand because it was "sh*t or bust" for him.
We may be stuck with him for a couple of months more because of yesterday's result.

The "success" of yesterday might persuade him to continue playing that kind of team. He won't leave Kodjia out and people like Davis, Adomah and Snodgrass put in the kind of performances that mean they are difficult to drop.

This needs to be the start of a run. We can't get into the situation that we blunder around and the manager saves his job every fourth game. The net result of that won't be good enough, it'll be midtable mediocrity in the Championship. Some people seem to forget we aren't in the Premier League any more and we actually want to get out of this division.

Total agree Sandie, we need this team to go on a really good run to prevent Bruce reverting to type.
