We're older as a team, but are we wiser? Are old heads rather than young legs going to get the job done.

I noticed that both Terry and Snodgrass will still be living in London and travelling backwards and forwards. This will mean less training and fitness as a unit. So no high pressing energetic style of football for us then. At least not after the first 25 minutes of each game. This has become a pattern for us, and will hold us back against fitter and better organised teams.

I'm going to hope for the best, but prepare for more of the same. The window is now closed so we know that no more OAP's will be joining us, at least for the next few months.

One of my son's said to me during the match today, "if I was the manager I would make sure that every signing I made was quick." We have too many slow, older players in our team, and it dictates Bruce's approach to matches, "don't run, kick it". Carrick has been one hell of a playmaking centre mid maestro and he could still do a job, but we have to look to a future beyond Bruce and his "golden oldie" philosophy.

He'd be a hell of an upgrade on Whelan though, even if he was much improved today when Jedi came on (MOTM, WTF?).

It's nailed on he'll go to West Brom as part of Pulis's ongoing crusade to horde holding midfielders, however.
