Burton Albion v AVFC .... Sat 8th April 3:0pm kick off.

Post by villabromsgrove on Fri Apr 07, 2017 2:19 pm

This day should never have happened! If Lerner had done his job properly the only chance of Burton playing Villa would have been in a cup match.

However we are where we deserve to be, and Burton fully deserve to be in the Championship for more positive reasons.

Can Kodjia keep scoring, or will this be the match when the rest of the team have to help him out? I can't shake the feeling that our repeated shoddy play is going to bite our bums .... is this the match when it happens?

I will be happy if we get another three points, but a good performance and a win would be even better.

I've gone for a draw, and I probably wont listen to commentary. On the last three occasions that we haven't been on the radio we've won 2-0 each time!

I'd like to think we're long overdue a strong performance and to win well. I live in hope...

It's a sunny day and it feels like the season should be over. Let's hope the players haven't got their buckets and spades out yet!

We're winning already. It need not be said who got it.

I've just come back from doing some karaoke party shopping, and I don't know the result yet. I'll just go and check.

Bugger .... 1-1! I've read a couple of match reports, and also Bruce's post match comments and the consensus seems to be that we were poor, and don't look after the ball at all. At least it means we can forget the play offs fantasy and concentrate on proper coaching.

The irony is that, according to the BBC we had just over half the ball, when was the last time we had that much possession rather than the more usual less than 40%?

From reading reports it was two teams who were treating the ball like a hot potato. I understand the principle of hitting on the break, but we have to be able to use the ball properly as well.

Being a Villa fan is boring!

Nothing to play for and no sign of getting better at playing football.

We have tightened up defensively, which is much needed, but we've done it by sitting the centre midfield deep and only really attacking on the break.

The fans need to see some sign that our training and coaching is paying dividends, and so far apart from Kodjia's goals we are struggling to even look like a half decent team. C'mon Steve, roll up your sleeves, take responsibility for the coaching instead of leaving it to a totally defensive Calderwood, and let's see what you're made of!

Give the fans some excitement

Is it too much to ask for a balance between good defending and thrilling attacking play? I think the back four we have - even Alan Hutton who has been very good recently - can cope with us being a bit more open.

Spot on Sandie. I think the players could do far more if the coach and manager allowed them to.
