We need to use our subs positively at about 65/70 minutes to put Wigan under pressure.

Didn't know Stephen Wanksock was now with Wigan.

We've had a lot of attacks but nothing yet in the way of a goal.

It seems that we come out full of beans, but then the confidence drains away. Wigan are organised and we seem to be struggling to play through them. Nothing for a very quiet crowd to shout about at the moment.

Half time .... 0-0. We dominated for 15 minutes then ran out of ideas. Morley saying we've got some good individuals but we're a long way from being a team. We don't look to get the ball in the box with any urgency.

At his best Adomah can do that. Another hot and cold player?

What a relief! Grealish from 25 yards 1-0 Villa. I was beginning to think it wasn't going to happen. cheers

We're not getting any better, but we've done the job today .... Just! Roll on January so that we can get a couple of better players in key positions.

Three points behind Birmingham and the same from the play offs. You don't have to play well to get the job done evidently. Just pick up three points.

I said after the Cardiff game that we are over-reliant on moments of magic from our flair players and today and Jack Grealish have proved that spectacularly.

It's a conundrum. Grealish let us down with a lazy performance, and rescued us with a great goal. I say rescued because a draw with Wigan at home would have been a disaster.

Funny thing is that lately I've seen a more industrious Grealish but was concerned he reined in the magic. Yesterday sounds like the opposite!

Wigan were well drilled and defended with discipline. After the first 15 minutes there was a sense of heads already beginning to drop or so it sounded according to the two regular Villa commentators. Grealish was increasingly mentioned as being poor, until he scored a great goal that is. If he can pop up with a goal every week then his work rate may be acceptable.
