Aston Villa V Huddersfield Town: Tuesday 16th August 19:45

Post by Sandie on Sun Aug 14, 2016 2:11 pm

The games come thick and fast in our new division so we're back to Villa Park in midweek.

Huddersfield have started their season well with wins in their first two games including one at St James' Park. They look like a team up for taking scalps so can we continue the form of Saturday against the Terriers?

It will be harder than the Rotherham game. Huddersfield have a solid defence and also they have Nahki Wells! I've checked a HFC forum and the general opinion is that Villa are a "good team".

What a difference a game makes.

I think that if we play positively like we did yesterday, we'll win a tight game by the odd goal.

I've only really seen highlights and read a couple of reports but from what I understand Rotherham didn't present us with much of challenge. Still, you can only beat what's in front of you and it will only raise our confidence. Huddersfield will be a tougher prospect, no doubt, but we won't have quite a weight on our soldiers having recently won.

2-1 Villa win.

I'm cautious.

We won. We beat what was in front of us. We generally coped well with what near-to-the-drop-zone-last-season Rotherham threw at us and gave ourselves a huge confidence boost.

Beat Huddersfield on Tuesday and maybe I'll start to believe.

This will be an important test for us, in recent times we have struggled to win games back to back or put run together at all, apart from losing ones of course. This will be a really good gauge of how we are developing, confidence will be on the up if we take all 3 points on Tuesday. Great thing about being in the championship that the games come thick and fast!!!!

Even then there are going to be, bluntly, a fair few teams between Huddersfield and the top two places. Home games against the likes of Rotherham and even teams who are somewhat better like Huddersfield need to be our bankers if we are to be serious promotion candidates. We're in the Championship now and we need to be one of the best teams in that league rather than a club content to finish 17th as we had become in the Premiership under Lerner. Long unbeaten runs need to be put together.

We have to make sure we frighten teams early on in the Championship. The message has to be "Villa are back with a bang .... watch out". The way to do this is by continuing with a three pronged strike force and loads of supply.

I'm going for a solid 2-0 win to keep the feel good factor going and build more momentum. I can't help think we will see an unchanged side (why not?) and really go at them. They'll present a sterner test than Rotherham, but as already said, a game we need to win if we are looking at Promotion. Big test, but one I think we will come through.

A win will send out a message of intent to the league, that coupled with a few more players will put us in a good position UTV

Same line up makes sense and maybe Adama is injured again? He did sprint once and touch the ball twice Very Happy

Come on Villa!!

Odd when you see the attackers on the pitch that there's only one attacker (Green) on the bench. Still, I think there's enough there.

Adama rumoured to one possibly been late. Told a fan he was in the squad at 6:45pm, just Twitter chatter though!!

I too think we have enough, so long as there are no early injuries..........
