I think so. Anything to be read into how we seem to be looking into a couple of left back options? Or is Taylor just a back up option to Bedeau our favoured choice as a second left back?

I would be surprised if Bedeau featured this season except in an emergency, but he could be used as CB cover. One thing that has impressed me is the tenacity with which we've gone after our identified targets who ever they are. Signing Bedeau when there were 27 scouts at his last match is an example of that.

Will the same tenacity be applied to the pursuit of this man?

Throughout this January window, i've been considering what Jordan Rhodes would bring to our team and initially it seemed to me that we were falling into the same trap in terms of identifying targets based on stats alone and necessarily on how well they would fit and compliment with our first X1. However having gone and completely replaced our midfield with a championship ready quality midfield then I really feel that Rhodes is the final piece of the jigsaw. With the likes of Hourihane Landsbury thor and Adomah there will be no shortage of quality ball into the box, but currently we don't have a striker who wants to or has the instinct to take up consistent positions in the box and have the instinct and finishing ability to put the ball in the net. Kodjia is a great player who will create things by himself but for a midfielder looking to feed the ball, into the box they have to look up and try to find kodjia as they will never quite know where he is. This is where Rhodes will help our midfielders and vice-a-versa, it will give them an option of, quick ball into the box as well as a slow more deliberate build up. Have a look at the youtube footage of Rhodes goals and I don't think we've had a player like him since Dion Dublin. I don't see why Rhodes couldn't thrive ant any level if given quality supply into the box including the premier League. For me, he will be a big addition and would be a far better fit than McCormack Gabby or Ayew with our New look midfield.

It looks likely that we will loan McCormack out, so we need a predator. As you say Jim, Rhodes would now be a good fit for the suppliers that we've signed. I agree with you, I think he will be a deadline day signing.

Many happy returns VB! Hope you have a wonderful day!

Agree with the comments about Rhodes. All Rhodes lead to Jordan. Having a better striker alongside him will also benefit Kodjia as there will be less pressure on him and he won't be playing with a load of duffers as he was before.

We've cleared a bit of space with Tshibola going out on loan. Let's hope he benefits from playing regularly.

I wonder why we didn't send Westwood to Forest? Does Bruce still intend to use him?

I would rather have kept Tshibola so that he can learn by training with our new midfield trio. He could be a useful part of our future, the same can't be said about Westwood.

Hmmm .... I always thought that a player with Ayew's footballing talent would eventually start to play for the team rather than himself and become a big Villa asset. It's a shame that it hasn't happened because there's a real player in there somewhere. His attitude and selfishness on the pitch has definitely cost us, so with a heavy heart I have to agree that this deal makes good "TEAM" sense.

I had high hopes for Ayew this season but he hasn't really done it. From what I've seen of him Taylor is pretty ok and will give Amavi good competition.
