A couple of links.

Graham Dorrans: http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/06/05/aston-villa-line-up-graham-dorrans-deal/? (I wonder if a HITC Sport source is anything more than a churnalist seeing an unsettled player and linking him with a club two of his former managers represent?)
Patrick Bamford: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/transfer-news-live-man-united-8112752 (scroll down to 17:58)

Dorrans was always a tidy worker, but at 29 he's getting past the stage where he could do his WBA job for Villa. Bamford was disappointingly lightweight last season. Still I guess these are the kind of uninspiring links we deserve after stinking out the Premier League last season.

From what I hear Bamford has no shortage of potential but at Palace he stunk the place out with his "Big I am" attitude. Should fit in well with Gabby.................

He doesn't like the physical one on one stuff with defenders, which for a striker is a glaring problem.

He's the type of player you take on loan for a season to see how it works our rather than sign permanently. He's very unproven at this point in time.

He did well at Middlesborough in the Championship, which was why I was so disappointed with his lame performances last season. I thought he might come to Villa on loan in January, but Lerner had done a runner by then.

He would be an astute replacement for Ayew if we can't hold on to him.

Watford turn down Leicester's offer of £20 million for Troy Deeney according to Sky sources. Is this evidence of Sky's mega millions distorting the real value of footballers to a totally unrecognisable point? What does it say about the price that Villa will have to play for better than ordinary Championship players? It's a bit worrying.

We've already seen it to an extent with our reported interest in Ross McCormack. British players are so, so overpriced.

It makes it important to keep Ayew next season.

This isn't about Villa but as it concerns a competitor for promotion to the Premier League, I though it worth a mention. I found it a fascinating read and it seems to confirm that Robin Li is the 'main man' behind the deal.

Exciting times ahead for Wolves fans!

Right back link: http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/07/25/aston-villa-derby-county-odds-on-signing-de-laet/page/1/

Also mounting speculation about the previously mooted exits for Richards and Guzan.

I think Richards and Guzan will leave. It seems obvious that they're not part of RDM's plans.

Ritchie De Laet is a decent right back, especially in the Championship. He's as big as Hutton (not so muscular though), he's also as quick as Hutton, but he's a much better technical player and four years younger. He would make a good alternative RB choice to Gunter.

He has experienced recent success, so he would bring some confidence into the first team.
