Pleased for Northern Ireland earlier. Great result for them considering everything.

Delighted. When that second goal went in their fans were ecstatic. There seems to be an equalising of teams, with named teams struggling to stand out at the moment. Anyone can beat anyone. That will probably change from here on in.

A comment made just now by commentators on the Republic of I reland v Belgium game worried me. "Ireland are all over the place at the back". Unfortunately Clark must take his share of the blame for that. Too often he's been guilty of marking space rather than players, in a similar way that he does for Villa. He's looked surprised as goals have gone in, and almost looked round to find out where the scorer has come from. That is not the way to defend.

Clark was deeply poor in that game by all accounts.

Sadly it's the fact that no matter how well he plays in a game, you fear he is always going to make one or more costly errors.

I like him as a person and a player, but his mistakes could kill us next season.

England have Iceland in the last 16. It's being treated like an easy draw but Iceland performed better in the group than the Portugal team they're fearing.

Iceland have deserved to go through, it will not be as simple as the media will build it up to be. Because Hodgson cocked up his team selection (again), we've ended up overloading our side of the draw with so called class teams. Spain did the same as us and didn't take the last game seriously enough so all the big name teams have to knock each other out on the way to the final.

Superb result for Ireland. All four "home" (I know Ireland technically aren't) nations through!

It's a shame Scotland couldn't have made it, to secure a British and Irish full house.

It was embarrassing for an Englishman to watch Sandie, but it must have been hilarious to a Scot!

Absolutely terrible, and there was I thinking that supporting England this summer, was going to be welcome relief from a Villa relegation season, whoops!!

Pray to God that RD plays 4 4 2 next season, I have had enough of watching Villa and now England with a congested Midfield, with the only players that have space on the field being the two fullbacks. Why would you want two defenders to be the players who have the most possention in attacking areas. Play wingers and two strikers and simplify things. Football isn't complicated but sometimes Managers seem to make it so.

If you listen to football hipsters (the same people who used to carp on about 4-2-3-1 and trequartistas), 4-4-2 is coming back into fashion.
