What do I know about football? Not a lot. Rooney has been excellent playing as a holding midfielder, his passing has been excellent so far. Come on England!

England have obviously been watching Villa videos. Stop playing when you score and get the manager to make totally defensive substitutions. It would be nice to see a manager with balls for a change!

As for the Russian thugs in the crowd .... sort it out UEFA!

England were impressive yesterday, of we can play that high tempo pressing in the gems ahead than I think we have a real chance of winning the tournament. We just need a bit of luck a change. Totally agree about the defensive changes, it seemed obvious to me and probably most of us that sterling should have been replaced by Vardy around the 65 minute mark, instead Roy decided to keep what we had got, which wasn't needed as we had Russia on the back foot the whole game. Overall though an impressive start, the team and squad is the most balanced England side have seen since Euro 96. It has speed flare decent technical ability and most important Athlethism which was noticeably lacking in recent tournaments. COMON ENGLAND massive match against Wales.

The team played well, but when we scored the manager became over cautious. When you're the better team you don't stop playing just because you've scored a goal. The substitutions were a clear sign to Russia that we were desperate to just hold on. It was totally unnecessary and cost us a win .... Hodgson got it right .... then he got it wrong.

Another crazy decision. The guys our best striker, he should be in the box. He doesn't do it for Spurs, so why does Roy think he should for Engand.

Joe Hart winds me up no end. He didn't even move on the goal, instead tried to claim offside. He should have been hurling himself to his right to at least be in the rough area where the ball was dropping, but no. He just didn't want to get his shorts dirty.

Ironically, he had thrown himself to his left at one point. But even then, his starting point was woeful.

Even though James Milner failed to close down the Russian who provided the cross for the header, all was not lost at this point.

Forster would be my number one choice. He doesn't pose, he just gets the job done.

I know it's not a popular thing to say but I like Clark. He's a leader and an organiser and we're going to need those sort of players this season. I hope he doesn't get injured in the Euros.

I agree. Not sure it's an unpopular view really. He'll be key next season if we hold on to him. Other clubs are reported to be interested in him so maybe we have to hope he doesn't impress too much at the championships. Clark, for me, is a Villa Captain in the making.

My daughter in law has threatened to ban me from live Euro broadcasts because she thinks I'm too negative. I have a downer on Roy Hodgson with his inability to boss the team during the 90 minutes of a match .... If there's a way to get it wrong in Finals, Roy will find it!
