Euro 2016

Post by Sandie on Tue May 31, 2016 4:22 pm

England squad named: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36413882

Agbonlahor, Lescott and Richards cruelly overlooked.

Five strikers when Hodgson only plays one up front? Gabby can consider himself unlucky to have missed out. "What is Roy smoking" asks Gabby 'the lean mean total football machine' Agbonlahor?

Looking like Clark will be the only Villa player at the Euros (for any side), I think?

I think you're spot on. We can't blame tired legs at the start of next season if we have an iffy start.

I predict England to get no further than the second round.

Aye, maybe the third round but certainly no further than that.

From what I saw against Portugal it seems that we may have the players, but the manager still hasn't got a clue as to where they should play.

We went out of the World Cup at the group stage because Roy played players out of position in order to try and make his version of the 4-3-3 system work, and he's doing it again. Two shot's on target because your best strikers are playing on either wing, with a lack lustre Rooney playing as the tip of a diamond ain't going to work. Get a grip Roy!

When you've got a fit Kane and Vardy you have to play 4-4-2. Managers hate to play simple systems don't they?

The English national team has, for a long time now, been picked on reputation rather than form. It's something that holds them back.

Pissing about where you play your strikers helps no one. Just look at how being moved about to the wing for club and country has damaged Rooney's talents.

Alli has to play the number 10 role. There can be no excuse for favouring Rooney because of his past reputation. Hodgson has a reputation for being stubborn, but he needs to play his best players in their best positions.

Just watched "The beautiful game" Portugal V Estonia: After a season watching the Villa that was so entertaining, OK! it's only a friendly and I might be a little bit bias towards Portugal but what a game.

@14/1 with most bookies not at bad bet, just drop Nani and all's well for Portugal.

They look like a good outside bet. I fancy France but was surprised to see they are 3-1 faves so maybe not.

If we play without Rooney, we should see some decent movement from England.

Yeah, get rid of Rooney. He hasn't performed at a tournament since his first, Euro 2004 in Portugal.

Drop him and let the other first-timers have a go at it.

Rooney gives the ball away more than any of his England team mates. You can't win games with that kind of handicap.

Today's reassuring Villa news has set me up for the Euro Finals. I'm starting to feel a real buzz. First match tonight.
