I think that SR's recent studies and his travels will have set him up nicely to bring in his new broom and sweep out a lot of out of date practices. If he can introduce and develop cutting edge methods and technology, we have to benefit.

Paddy Riley SACKED. Must have been the first thing Steve Round did since taking his position.

It was only a matter of time, and I think it's good that Dr T has allowed Steve Round to pull the trigger. It's will bring home to him that he really is the boss of all things to do with the technical side of the football club.

A case of being promoted way above your ability. Lerner didn't have a clue did he!

It did seem that Lerner and Fox were very much into giving their mates jobs. Fox did it with Almstadt, Lerner did it with Riley and Faulkner and to an extent McLeish (who got the job because Lerner and Fox "liked" him).

I don't think that Tony has mates .... he has targets! I expect bullets to fly if people fail to complete the tasks they've been given.

I agree. I've said before that I don't expect him to be patient if people fail to meet his expectations.

He (via Steve Round) sacked 'Sid' Cowans today. That indicates that sentiment or personalities will not get in the way of his plans for Villa.

Indeed, I imagine Round will have his own ideas how youth development should be handled. Is Kevin MacDonald still at the club?

KMac is still in charge of the U23's (reserves as it used to be known). I think you're right to mention him Sandie. He's a good old servant of the club, but he's another reason why we haven't moved forward over the last couple of seasons.

We need new faces and new thinking across the club.

Sounds like a decent appointment. His expertise will be targeted at players who are possibly Premier League standard, as Everton would not have had him looking at second tier players. We need to get promoted to make best use of his 'black book'.

A positive move, we really need to beef up the scouting side of things, IMO.
